House Democrat Makes an Insulting Closing Argument

As RedState reported, the fallout from the Jay Jones texting scandal continues to rock the race for attorney common in Virginia, with new polling from Trafalgar Group exhibiting GOP Attorney General Jason Miyares now main the embattled Democrat nominee by six factors after trailing him by 4 factors in their earlier ballot.

There has also been an “up-ballot” impact as nicely, with notable motion in the gubernatorial race and the lieutenant governor race, with both races now in statisitcal ties and within the margin of error in contrast to Trafalgar’s prior ballot that was taken just a few days before the scandal broke, and before the only real gubernatorial debate between Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears (R) and Abigail Spanberger (D) happened.

The texts Jones despatched in August 2022 included him expressing fantasies about killing then-Virginia Speaker of the House Todd Gilbert (R) with “two bullets to the head,” and of Gilbert’s kids dying in his spouse Jennifer’s arms. Though Jones has acknowledged sending them, he has denied allegations that he remarked in a telephone dialog that perhaps if a few police officers had been killed as a consequence of not having certified immunity, law enforcement would change their ways with suspects.

With that and Spanberger’s disastrous debate efficiency undoubtedly in thoughts, the Virginia Democrat Party is in a panic and is desperately reaching for any excuse they’ll to get out of explaining why none of them have urged Jones to drop out of the race and/or have pulled their endorsements.

In the ultimate few weeks before Election Day, and with early voting underway, some of them have predictably latched onto “whataboutism” as a approach to strive and downplay the seriousness of Jones’ remarks.

Among them is Rep. Don Beyer (D-VA), a former lieutenant governor who has served in Congress for 10 years. He made this insulting closing argument for Jones when requested about the texts (Instagram video):

“You know, what Jay said was awful. It’s no worse than what Donald Trump says almost every day, and the things JD Vance has said, when you compare it to the other evil things. People make mistakes. I very much hope he prevails.”

Hmm. Really? That’s attention-grabbing. I listen to the news every day, and I’ve never heard Trump or Vance specific the will to homicide their political opposition and see the kids of their Democrat opponents die.

It merely hasn’t occurred. There have been politically motivated makes an attempt on Trump’s life, however, as we noticed during the 2024 presidential marketing campaign. 

For Democrats to resort to taking part in the “But Trump/Vance” card in mild of all of this is completely pathetic and, as I famous earlier, insulting to Virginia voters, most of who know the distinction between spirited political sparring and wishing you can shoot your colleague on the other facet of the aisle in the pinnacle and see their younger kids die in their mom’s arms.

One has to marvel if Beyer is aware of deep down that what he claimed about Trump and Vance is not true. Is he sticking by Jones in half because, disturbingly, there seems to be a growing quantity of Democrat voters who agree with the sentiment expressed by Jones, including, apparently, voters in Virginia, as we have beforehand coated?

The sickening messages we heard and read from some of them after Charlie Kirk’s assassination lend credence to that level, in my opinion. Prove me mistaken.
